About Me

Welcome! I’m Angela Eward-Mangione, and I’m passionate about helping others communicate effectively so that they can realize and express their full potential. Whether through writing, teaching, speaking, leading, or serving in my community, my mission is to support people in finding their voice and sharing it confidently.

I’m married to my smart, funny husband, Stephen; together, we’re raising an energetic seven-year-old girl—Natalie—and I love being a “girl mama.” I also have a passion for being outdoors and participating in physical activities. On that note, a serious back injury in my late teens required neurosurgery and reshaped my understanding of resilience. Since then, I’ve remained committed to personal growth through fitness, recently participating in several local 5K and 10K races, including the HC Hawk Run and the St. Petersburg Distance Classic.

My educational journey has taken me from earning an A.A. at St. Petersburg College (formerly St. Petersburg Junior College) to completing my Ph.D. in English and Literature at the University of South Florida. Along the way, I also earned a B.A. in English, Graduate Certificate in Comparative Literary Studies, and an M.L.A. in Liberal Arts, with concentrations in English and Philosophy, My Master’s Level work provided the graduate credit hours required to teach philosophy at the college level. Additionally, philosophy has been central to my scholarly work for many years, since much of my academic research lives at the intersection of literature, philosophy, and psychology, particularly in the study of postcolonial adaptations of Shakespeare. My doctoral and subsequent work engages philosophical thinkers such as Frantz Fanon and Octave Mannoni, whose ideas about consciousness, identity, power, ethics, and human subjectivity strongly inform both literary criticism and philosophical inquiry.

Alongside my academic work, I have intentionally pursued training that informs how I engage in leadership roles, including those with individuals in vulnerable situations. I completed Adult Mental Health First Aid training in recent years and earlier received volunteer training with LifePath Hospice to visit patients. That experience reinforced the importance of presence, discernment, and appropriate boundaries in complex human situations, and it continues to inform how I teach, lead, and serve. In addition, I currently serve in a leadership role with my church’s foster care ministry as the CarePortal lead, coordinating responses to requests from foster families and social workers and managing communication, logistics, and follow-up in sensitive situations. My personal experience in foster care prior to my adoption has made this role especially meaningful, as it allows me to engage with issues that resonate deeply on a personal level. I have also completed Resiliency Florida Coach Training to serve as a Resiliency Coach in Pasco County K-12 settings. I currently serve as the President of the Florida College English Association as well as the First Vice President of the Beta Theta Tampa Bay Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter.

My faith is at the core of everything I do. Jeremiah 1:5 and 1 Corinthians 13:12-13 are two verses that resonate deeply with me. They state that we are all known and loved in ways beyond measure, and that we were each made with purpose. These principles guide how I interact with others and shape the work I do, as I aim to help people realize the value and purpose they carry within.

When I’m not working, I enjoy writing, running, and reading. I also love to visit the beach with my family since I believe in nourishing both the mind and soul. Whether through my professional work or personal connections, I am committed to making a positive, lasting impact.
